Centerville has long had a focus on creating and maintaining beautiful recreational areas for our residents. The city boasts three city parks, a large athletic complex and is in the midst of creating a bike trail system that will connect all three park while also providing a path with views of the beautiful Vermillion River. We welcome our residents and visitors to enjoy each of these facilities.
In 2012, the City of Centerville embarked on an ambitious project to create a paved bike trail connecting all three of the city's park. The first portion of the trail linked Berry Park (The Old Dam Location) to the city's safe routes to school sidewalks in 2013. The next phase of construction will start at Peder Larson Park close to camping and the city pool and run to the Northwest edge of town. This phase will be complete by July 1st of 2015. The final phase will take the path over a bridge spanning the Vermillion River and then turn north through a grove of trees running along the Vermillion up to historic Gunderson Park. This final phase of the trail is scheduled for a summer of 2016 completion date.
