The Centerville Volunteer Fire Department has a Class 8 Fire Insurance rating and possess 2 pumper trucks and 2 tankers. We welcome new volunteers any time. Please contact us if you are interested in joining.

Office hours Monday thru Friday 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday office is open only from 8:00 am. to 8:30 am.

Stamps are also available for sale at the grocery store outside post office hours.

*If mail is put in the outside box on Saturday, it will be picked up at 5pm that day.

Built new in 1994. State of the art library with 5 star rating by the LI Index of Public Library Service dating back as far as 2006! Internet and computers available. Audio books, adult and children fiction as well as excellent nonfiction and reference sections. Public meeting space also available.

City Compost Site

West End of Garfield Street

The city compost site is located at the west end of Garfield Street and all city residents are welcome to use it. Absolutely no household garbage is permitted, just branches and leaves. Leaf bags are to be emptied onto the leaf pile and the bags are to be taken with you. Call City Hall to make an appointment.

City Water and Public Works

The current municipal water supply comes from the Lewis and Clark Water System that ensures a maximum capacity of 220 gallons/minute and 316,800 gallons per day for residential use. The city sewer system, updated in 2013, has both primary and secondary lagoon with wet-land easement.
